Burlington Contemporary was established to support the evolving discipline of contemporary art history by inspiring and questioning how art criticism and art writing might better respond to the global production of art. Over the last 8 months we have published weekly reviews on the latest exhibitions written by leading critics, artists and scholars. Our free-access inaugural issue features research from novelist, critic and curator Michael Bracewell, and artist Massa Lemu among other industry leaders. Bruce Nauman, Zoe Leonard and African art will all feature as we cover homophobia and queerness in art from the AIDS crisis, London’s Post Punk scene, removing the western lens from interpretations of African performance art, and the clash of artistic intent and curatorial priorities.
